Ollama 0.18.1 adds web search and headless mode — OpenClaw agents can now fetch the web and run in CI/CD

Ollama released version 0.18.1 with two significant additions. First, native web search and web fetch plugins for OpenClaw — installable with a single command (`openclaw plugins install @ollama/openclaw-web-search`) — giving any Ollama-compatible model the ability to search the web for current information and extract readable content from URLs. The fetch implementation does not execute JavaScript. Second, non-interactive (headless) launch mode for the `ollama launch` command, enabling it to run as a pipeline step in Docker containers, CI/CD systems, and scripts without requiring user interaction.

The headless mode is the more significant addition. Web search in an OpenClaw plugin is useful but expected — every major agent framework is adding retrieval. Headless launch is different: it means Ollama can now be spun up, used, and torn down as part of an automated pipeline without any human in the loop. That's the pattern for agentic infrastructure — not persistent model servers, but ephemeral compute that runs tasks and exits. Combined with OpenClaw's agent capabilities, Ollama is positioning itself as a serious option for local-first agentic pipelines in enterprise environments.
