ChatGPT gets write actions for Google and Microsoft apps — draft emails, create docs, schedule meetings

OpenAI released write actions for Google and Microsoft apps in ChatGPT on March 13 for Enterprise and Business users. The feature allows ChatGPT to draft emails in Outlook, create documents and spreadsheets in Google Docs and Sheets, and schedule meetings via Google Calendar and Microsoft Calendar — directly from a chat prompt. Write actions are disabled by default; workspace admins must enable them in settings per app. Some Microsoft Enterprise Entra admin approvals are required for new users before write access is granted.

This is ChatGPT moving from a research and drafting tool to an execution tool. The distinction matters: previously, ChatGPT could help write an email, but the user had to copy the output, open Outlook, paste, and send. Now the model can handle the whole chain. That eliminates the friction that has kept AI assistants in the "helpful but adjacent" category for most enterprise knowledge workers.
